CUA Hosts First Annual Alumni Game

10/4/06

WASHINGTON - On Saturday, September 30, Catholic University men's lacrosse held its First Annual Alumni Game during CUA's Family Weekend.  The day was a huge success for the program that was founded only eight years ago.

Over 30 graduates attended the event and participated in the game against the current Cardinal squad.  Two alumni were selected as Honorary Captains for the day, Brian Kennedy and Sean McMachan, both graduates of the Class of 1983, who played for CUA's club lacrosse team during its inaugural seasons.

The game was also the first lacrosse game held at DuFour Stadium on the Cardinals' new turf field that was completed only a few months ago and will be the new home for the Cards when the spring season kicks off in March.

The day concluded with a post-game tailgate sponsored by the parents and friends of the current team, as well as the alumni players.  Many thanks go out to all who helped make this event such a success this year, and for many more seasons to come.

The team will have one more event this fall playing at the Genesee Valley Fall D-III Lacrosse Tournament in Hereford, Md., on October 22.
