Marks first selection for both

4/30/2008

WASHINGTON - The Catholic University of America men's lacrosse team had two players named to the All-Landmark Conference squad the league announced Wednesday.  Senior goalkeeper Greg Kavazanjian (Long Beach, N.Y./Long Beach) was honored with a first team selection while junior attack Kyle Brant (Silver Spring, Md./St. John's) was named to the second team.  The All-Landmark Team includes a first and second team with 12 honorees on each team. The voting for the team was done by position.

Kavazanjian capped off his outstanding four-year career with a number of solid games this past season.  He ranks third in the league with an average of 10.81 saves per game.  This season Kavazanjian played and started in all 16 games.  He posted a 7.25 goals against average and had 173 saves on the season giving him a .603 save percentage.  Over four years Kavazanjian has been CUA's main goalkeeper, he graduates with program records in saves in a season and career.

Brant was honored in his first season with the Cardinals transferring from Salisbury prior to the season.  The junior ranks first on the team in goals with 30 and second in points with 32.  He ranks sixth in the conference in goals per game with a 1.88 average and is tied for fourth with nine man-up goals.

The Cardinals finished the season with a 7-9 overall record going 2-4 in conference play and narrowly missing the Landmark Conference tournament.  CUA will lose three players to graduation but will return a majority of the starting lineup in 2009.
