Fuccillo becomes CUA's first North-South Senior Game selection

WASHINGTON – Chris Fuccillo made history on Monday, becoming the first men's lacrosse student-athlete in CUA history to be named to the prestigious North-South Senior Game.  Fuccillo will be joined by the top Division III players in the country for the 71st edition of the game on May 25 in Cambridge, Mass.

Fuccillo recently put the finishing touches on a terrific career for the Cardinals. He earned his fourth consecutive All-Landmark Conference selection, including third straight on the First Team.  A native of Patchogue, New York, Fuccillo found the back of the net 41 times in 2012, raising his career total to 146, which ties him with Conor Kelly for the most in school annals.

Fuccillo's 41 goals and 48 points led the Cardinals this season.  He scored multiple goals in 11 games, including a high of six at Drew on April 5.  Three of Fuccillo's goals were game-winners, as he helped lead CUA to its third consecutive Landmark Conference Tournament appearance.

Fuccillo also scooped up 34 ground balls, including five vs. Hood and Frostburg State, and he caused 17 turnovers on the year.

The USILA/LaxWorld Division III Senior North-South Game originated in 1940 and was played at Municipal Stadium in Baltimore.  This year, the game will take place on Friday, May 25 at Harvard Stadium in Cambridge, Mass.

The Division III game will get started at 3 p.m., followed by the Division I/II game at 5:30.  Dave Webster of Dickinson College will coach the Division III South Team, while Dave Campbell from Middlebury College will assume the North head coaching duties.

UPDATE: Fuccillo helped lead the South squad to a 14-13 win over the North on May 25.  Fuccillo scored his only goal of the afternoon late in the fourth quarter to tie things at 13, and set the South to eventually pull out the win.
