WASHINGTON – CUA made its 2012 home opener a successful one, by downing Marymount 12-10 on Thursday inside Cardinal Stadium.  The Cardinals trailed 6-4 after one quarter, but once again, a strong third quarter paved the way for a CUA win.  Chris Fuccillo found the back of the net five times for the victorious Cardinals.

Marymount struck first, only 14 seconds into the game when George Pugh found the back of the net for a 1-0 Saints lead.

Marc Saxton responded with a goal two minutes later for CUA to tie things at one.

The teams then went over ten minutes without scoring, before Fuccillo found the back of the net at the 1:47 mark to give the Cardinals a 9-8 lead after three quarters.

Fuccillo scored again, this time with 13 minutes to play in the game, to give CUA a two-goal advantage, but Kellogg answered for Marymount to make it a one-goal affair.

Bernecker tied things at 10 with a goal at the 10:33 mark, but less than two minutes later Saxton found the back of the net to give CUA the lead once again.

Brian Keith's goal with 3:29 then sealed the win for the Cardinals.
