Lacrosse legend Paul Rabil pays a visit to CUA
WASHINGTON – A special visitor greeted youngsters at the
Capitol Lacrosse Camp on Monday when Major League Lacrosse star
Paul Rabil stopped by Cardinal Stadium. Rabil was a four-time
All-American at Johns Hopkins University and has been named
MLL’s Most Valuable Player on two occasions.
Rabil is one of the most decorated lacrosse players in the
game’s history, helping Johns Hopkins to a pair of national
championships (2005, 2007) and earning the 2007 McLaughin Award,
which is given to the nation’s most outstanding NCAA lacrosse
midfielder. A two-time finalist for the Tewaaraton Trophy,
Rabil led the Blue Jays in scoring in all three of their trips to
the NCAA finals (2005, 2007, 2008).
Following his time in Baltimore, Rabil was selected first overall
by the Boston Cannons of MLL and one year later he was named the
league’s MVP and Offensive Player of the Year.
In 2011, Rabil was once again named the MVP and Offensive Player
of the Year.
Rabil was selected second overall by the Washington Stealth of the
National Lacrosse League in 2008, helping lead the Stealth to the
NLL Champion’s Cup in 2010.
Rabil has also competed on the international level, earning the
2010 World Championship MVP award after helping lead the United
States to the gold medal.
Over 130 children from across the country are in attendance this
week at the Capitol Lacrosse Camp, which is run by CUA Head Coach
Brooks Singer and his assistants.
