Long stick midfielder Dan McCallan helped the Cardinals earn a shutout victory in their season-opening win over Southern Virginia. The junior caused two turnovers and picked up a groundball. His presence in the midfield was instrumental as the visiting Knights successfully completely just eight clears in 20 attempts. The Catholic defense held Southern Virginia to just eight shots, with only three on frame. For his effort, McCallan was named this week's Defensive Player of the Week.
The Cardinals were the only team to play this week and had their second game at Frostburg St. postponed due to the snowstorm that hit the east coast.
