Rangers take down Cardinals 10-7

WASHINGTON - The Catholic University men's lacrosse team dropped a 10-7 decision at Drew University on Saturday and fell to 2-2 in the Landmark.

Brian Keith and Sean Cummins led the Cardinals with two goals a piece, while Jack Drexel caused three caused turnovers and scooped up one groundball.

Sean Cummins got things started for CUA with a goal at 11:32 in the first quarter, but the Rangers rattled off four straight goals to take a 4-1 lead heading into the second quarter.

With 12:11 left in the second quarter, Billy Kirmsee scored off of an assist from Tim Keith to bring the score to 4-2 for the home team.

Drew would score four more goals spanning into the third quarter to take an 8-2 lead before CUA would start its comeback attempt.

Walter Hickey, Cummins, Brian Keith, and Ethan Rodriguez scored for the Cardinals to cut the Drew lead to two, at 9-7, by the 5:09 mark in the fourth quarter.

Harrison Holak and Erik Hyland combined for 10 saves in the loss while their counterpart Kyle Mariboe collected 14 saves on the day.

The Cardinals sit in fourth place at 2-2 in the Landmark with two more conference games to play against Goucher and Susquehanna. Catholic will return to action on Wednesday, April 17 at Goucher, slated to start at 4:00 p.m.
