WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America men's lacrosse continued its best start in program history on Wednesday afternoon at Cardinal Stadium as they improved to 12-1 overall and a perfect 4-0 in Landmark Conference play with an overtime win against Goucher, 12-11.
Junior Bennett Bradley scored half of Catholic's goal, one shy of tying his own program-best, single-game record before senior All-American Tim Keith netted the gamewinner with just 1:55 left in extra time.
Bradley a game-tying goal in the third period and added an assist for a seven-point day as the Cards rallied from a second quarter, 6-3, deficit.
Goucher led, 6-4, at the half, but Bradley scored 1:28 into the second.
Catholic the game for the third time at 6-all on a man-up goal by Keith less than a minute later as the game was equalized four more times.
The Gophers went up, 11-10 with a score with just 3:28 left, but Bradley sent the game to OT with his sixth score of the day with just 2:54 left.
The Cardinals were able to work off a penalty at the start of overtime to set up Keith's heroics as he buried the field from classmate Jack Murphy.
Murphy was also sensational for the Cards as he scored once and assisted on four other goals for a five-point day.
Rookie goalkeeper Alex Mulyk improved to 7-1 overall on the year as he stopped 15 shots.
Catholic's special teams unit also came up big as the held Goucher scoreless on five man-up opportunities.
The Cards look to finish the season a perfect 6-0 at home on Senior Day in their next game this Saturday at 1 p.m., versus Moravian.
