Catholic
University Men's Lacrosse Alumni Information
As
proud as the coaching staff is with the progress the men’s
lacrosse team has made on the field, we are just as proud of the
contributions our alumni have made in graduate school and the
workforce. Stretching across the U.S. and abroad, CUA’s
alumni have earned themselves very successful careers in countless
areas of concentration. The opportunities in and around the
DC area are numerous and our graduates have taken full advantage of
them once they received their undergraduate
diploma.
Many of our recent graduates have continued their education,
enrolling in graduate school, law school and medical school.
With a strong foundation laid at CUA, these transitions to graduate
school, whether at CUA or in states such as Maine, Pennsylvania,
California and Massachusetts, have been quite smooth. Our
alumni have also gone on to very successful careers in law,
architecture, engineering, journalism, sales, and public
service. Perhaps you will see them on Capitol Hill very soon
or working in one of the many government offices in Washington,
D.C.
In order to celebrate our alumni, each year the team hosts an
Annual Alumni game. This past year, over 35 alumni attended
the annual game. The tradition will continue next year on
Homecoming Weekend in the fall.
The current team and the inaugural Men’s Lacrosse Club,
recognize the contributions of the club’s first coach, Tom
Lillis. Coach Lillis (shown at left in the bottom left corner
with the 1980-81 squad), was an All-American selection in 1952 for
the University of Maryland Men’s Varsity Lacrosse Team.
Coach Lillis’ leadership, example, and love for the sport
instilled the early club players with values that helped them
nurture and sustain interest in the club, culminating in varsity
status in 1999. Members of the founding club team have made
gifts to the CUA team this season to honor Coach Lillis.
