WASHINGTON - Catholic lost their third consecutive one-goal game, this time as SUNY-Brockport scored the tying goal with 19 seconds in regulation and won it in 59 seconds into overtime as Catholic fell 11-10 Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action.
Senior Jimmy Nalls gave the Cardinals a 10-8 lead at the 6:27 mark of the fourth quarter with his fourth goal on the day. But Brockport's Matt Prentice sent the game into overtime with his only tally of the day, with an assist Rob Siddell with just 19 ticks on the clock.
The Cardinals trailed 5-3 at the half and again at 7-3 as the Golden Eagles (2-0) opened the second half with two straight scores. But CUA outscored Brockport 3-1 to end the third quarter down 8-7.
Nalls' unassisted goal tied the game for the first time at 8-8 with just over 12 minutes to play.
Junior Eric Slagle added three goals as the Cardinals are now 0-2 in overtime contests this season.
Andrew Couden replaced Matt Monfet to start the second quarter and finished with 10 saves. Monfet posted four stops.
Catholic (2-4) resumes action on Saturday as they take on Marietta College here at the DuFour Center at 1 p.m.
