Catholic ends three-game losing streak

WASHINGTON - Catholic used three goals each from freshman Terence Kempf and junior Justin Kelly as the Cardinals defeated Marietta College, 16-4, Saturday afternoon.

After surrendering the first goal of the game, Catholic (3-4) then went on to score the next 16 goals to break the game wide open.

Kelly added two assists for a game-high five points. Senior Ryan Welsh and junior Eric Slagle added two scores and two helpers apiece to help the Cardinals break a three-game losing streak.

Adam Cervenka posted two goals to lead Marietta (0-3).

Sophomore Andrew Couden, junior Matt Monfet, and freshman Kyle Blodgett split time in goal and combined to post six saves on the day.

The Cardinals return to action on Tuesday as they host Mary Washington in a CAC tilt at 3:30 p.m.
