FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - The 2003 season came to a close as Mary Washington downed Catholic, 18-5 in the first round of the Capital Athletic Conference Tournament. The Cardinals end the season at 7-8 finishing with the most wins in the six-year history of the program.

After leading 5-1 after the first quarter, the Eagles then added six in a row to start the second quarter capped by Chris Doddrige's five scores in that span. Doddridge finished with a game-high six goals on the day.

Freshman Conor Kelly scored the second of his two goals, an unassisted tally with 19 seconds before the half, to break the scoring drought.

Junior Eric Slagle added two man-up goals in the third quarter with two assists from sophomore Tom Alexander but the Eagles (9-5) were just too strong pulling away with four straight tallies to open the fourth period to clinch the win.
