Cardinals Fall to #20 Kenyon
MacArthur scores two goals
GAMBIER, Ohio - Catholic University men's lacrosse fell 10-4 to the #20 Kenyon College Lords (6-0) Saturday afternoon in Ohio. The game marked the third time that CUA has played a nationally-ranked opponent, with the loss the Cardinals dropped to 4-5 on the season.
The Cards stayed close in the first half thanks to a pair of goals from Bobby MacArthur (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks So). The first came with just 22 second left in the opening period to make it 1-1, unfortunately Kenyon came back and score with two seconds on the clock to go back up. MacArthur's other score was with 45 second left in the half off of a pass from Michael Scotto (Belmar, N.J./St Rose). The goal made it 3-2, Kenyon at the break.
The third quarter was all Kenyon as the Lords connected on two shots while CUA got just three shots off for the entire period. The Lords scores three more to started the fourth and despite a Scotto-assisted Julian Manolio (Maywood, N.J./Paramus Catholic) goal as well as one by Phil Reinckens (Bethesda, Md./St. John's College) the Cards fell 10-4.
Kenyon outshot CUA 48-19 and had 40 groundballs to the Cards' 22. CUA was 7-17 on face-offs. Greg Kavazanjian (Long Beach, N.Y./Long Beach) took the loss with 15 saves for the day.
The Cardinals will play Marymount on Wednesday at Bishop O'Connell High School. Face-off is set for 4:00 p.m.
