The Cardinals Demolish USMMA in the Final Home Game of the Season

WASHINGTON-The Catholic University of America men’s lacrosse team destroyed the United States Merchant Marine Mariners by a landslide. The final score of this conference game 18-6 in favor of the Cards.

The Mariners had the first goal 1:30 into the game scored by Tyler Spaulding which set the offensive action of the game.

By the end of the first period CUA was up 5-1 against the Mariners and each of the five goals were scored by a different one of the key players for the Cards.

The untouchable offense of the Cardinals was led by Mike Groh with 3 goals one assist, Marc Saxton with 3 goals 2 assists, Tyler Catalani with 3 goals one assist, Jimmy Sinnott with 3 goals, and Chris Fuccillo with 3 goals and 2 assists.

The CUA offense was also helped by Mike Scotto’s 4 assists, 2 goals and one assist by Jimmy Bitonti, and one goal by Justin Schaufler.  Catholic managed to score on 7 of their 11 man-up opportunities.

The Cardinal defense also had a stellar game holding USMMA to only 6 goals in this high scoring game. Sean McKenna had 5 saves for the Cards and Bobby Blabolil had 2.

CUA looks to close the regular season with a bang at their last game on May 1st at Scranton University.
