5/27/2010

WASHINGTON- Catholic University men’s lacrosse team has been ranked third in Division III out of 150 teams for having the greatest improvement from the 2009 season to the 2010 season, announced Laxpower.com this week.

The squad’s 12-4 overall record was a dramatic improvement from their 8-8 record in 2009. The team earned its first ever bid to the Landmark Conference Tournament, and advanced to the championship game after upsetting second-seeded Drew University. The Cardinals finished their conference season with a record of 4-2.

The team had four players selected to the Landmark All-Conference Team, and also was honored with Chris Fuccillo being selected as the 2010 Landmark Conference Co-Player of the Year.  In addition, the Cards ended the season with the not only one of the top offenses in the country, but with a defense ranked 5th in Division III.

CUA will look to continue their improvement next season, returning all but five of their players in 2011. To see the rest of the Division III rankings, please click here.
