ECAC names Englert 2011 Metro-South Rookie of the Year

WASHINGTON – Brendan Englert has been named the 2011 ECAC Division III Metro-South Rookie of the Year, it was announced on Thursday.  This marks the second Rookie of the Year award for Englert, who also collected the honor from the Landmark Conference in May.  Englert helped lead CUA to 11 wins and a spot in the conference tournament this past season.

A first team All-Landmark Conference selection, Englert is CUA's first-ever Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year.  He had a terrific first season in the red and black, totaling a team-leading 23 assists and 61 points to go along with 38 goals and 37 ground balls.

Englert scored multiple goals in 13 games, with a season-high of five vs. Goucher.  The Landmark Conference Offensive Player of the Week on May 2, Englert also handed out more than one assist six times, including a season-best four in a win over Neumann on March 22.
