CUA downs Berry 14-7 to open spring break in Georgia
ATLANTA, Ga. – Chris Fuccillo scored five goals, Brendan
Englert added three and CUA began its spring break trip with a 14-7
victory over Berry on Friday afternoon. Six Cardinals scored
in the game and Jimmy Sinnott handed out a team-high four helpers
to help CUA improve to 4-1.
CUA scored six first half goals and took a 6-2 lead into
halftime. The Cardinals then added eight goals in the final
30 minutes to pull away and earn the win.
In addition to Fuccillo and Englert, Camden Feldman (2), Tyler
Catalani (1), Josh Kriz (1), Justin Schaufler (1) and JP Panzl (1)
scored goals for CUA. Sinnott, Sean Cummins (2), Catalani (1)
and Englert (1) recorded assists for CUA.
The Cardinals held a 41-15 edge in shots and 31-11 in ground
balls. Tom Scotto picked up a team-best eight ground balls
and won 16 of 22 face-offs for CUA, while Rob Ryan totaled five
GBs.
In goal for CUA Sean McKenna stopped one shot in 60 minutes of
action, and for Berry, Jordan Boreman sent back nine shots.
On Sunday CUA will close out its two-game road trip with a match
vs. Sewanee. The game will be played at Lassiter High School
in Atlanta with a 12 p.m. start time.
