Cardinals finish spring break with second straight win
ATLANTA, Ga. – CUA outscored Sewanee 5-0 in the third
quarter en route to a 14-10 win over the Tigers on Sunday
afternoon. Chris Fuccillo and Cam Feldman tallied four goals
apiece to lead the Cardinals (5-1), who have won their last
three. Pierce Leonard found the back of the net four times
for Sewanee (1-4).
Along with Fuccillo and Feldman, Brendan Englert (2), Justin
Schaufler (2), Tyler Catalani (1) and Jimmy Sinnott (1) scored
goals for CUA. Catalani and Tom Scotto handed out two assists
apiece, while Fuccillo, Wes Huber and Sinnott registered one
each.
The teams went back and forth in the first half, trading goals
through the first 30 minutes. CUA and Sewanee were tied at
four after one quarter and knotted at six at halftime.
The Cardinals then scored five unanswered in the third to put some
distance between themselves and the Tigers, but Sewanee made things
interesting in the final 15 minutes, scoring four goals to
CUA’s three to pull within four. In the end though CUA
was able to outlast its counterpart and earn win number-five.
CUA was credited with 45 shots in the game, while Sewanee
registered 42. Both goalkeepers got their fair share of work
in, with CUA’s Sean McKenna stopping 16 shots and
Sewanee’s Spencer Graves sending back 12.
Scotto won 19 of 27 face-offs for the Cardinals and led the team
with 11 ground balls, while Ryan Doyle and Rob Ryan scooped up four
GBs apiece.
On Wednesday CUA remains on the road with a trip to York, Pa. to
take on the Spartans. Start time is scheduled for 3:30
p.m.
