CUA moves back into national rankings; sits third in region
WASHINGTON – CUA has moved back into the NSCAA national
poll this week with the Cardinals sitting at No. 24. CUA is
also ranked third in this week’s Mid-Atlantic Region
poll. The Cardinals wrapped up their season last week with a
record of 14-4-1, which included an appearance in the Landmark
Conference championship.
CUA was most recently in the national poll on October 25 when the
Cardinals were also ranked 24th. Head Coach Travis
Beauchamp’s squad had a terrific 2011 season, going 11
straight matches without a defeat, which spanned six weeks.
The Cardinals were 7-2-1 at home this season and posted a 6-0-1
mark within the Landmark Conference. Individually, six
Cardinals were named to the All-Landmark Conference Teams,
including junior Mike Brennan who earned the Offensive Player of
the Year award. In addition, Beauchamp and his staff received
Coaching Staff of the Year accolades.
Under Beauchamp, CUA has posted four straight double-digit victory
seasons, and it has advanced to the conference championship match
in each of those four years. The Cardinals won the title in 2009
and again in 2010.
