CUA cracks national rankings, up to third in region

WASHINGTON – CUA’s recent strong play continues to garner attention regionally and nationally, with the Cardinals moving all the way up to third in the Mid-Atlantic Region in the NSCAA rankings.  In addition, CUA debuted at No. 24 in this week’s NSCAA national poll, while continuing to receive votes in the D3soccer.com poll.

The Cardinals were eighth in the region last week, but bolstered by a pair of victories CUA moved up five spots to No. 3 in the Mid-Atlantic Region.  The Cardinals also move into the national rankings at No. 24, ahead of No. 25 Ogelthorpe (Ga.).

At 12-3, CUA is in the midst of a historic run, having won a school-record eight consecutive matches, five of which have come on the road.

The Cardinals are holding teams to 1.27 goals per game, while scoring 2.2 per contest.  They’ve outscored their opponents by a combined 16-8 count in the second half of matches this season and outshot them 135-77 during that time.
