Fleri's game-winner lifts CUA to 4-3 overtime win at Juniata

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Ben Fleri delivered the game-winning goal 39 seconds into overtime to lift CUA to a 4-3 win over Juniata on Saturday.  The Cardinals led 3-2 late in regulation before a Juniata goal sent the match to OT.  Fleri then provided the heroics and CUA improved to 9-6 overall and 3-1 in the Landmark Conference.

With CUA leading by one in the 85th minute, Juniata's Robby Higgins sent a looping shot over the Cardinal defense and tied things at three to send the match to overtime.

Unfazed, the Cardinals ended this one quickly, with Fleri scoring off a crossing pass from Earl Hamilton 39 seconds into the extra session.

Juniata went in front 1-0 when Dane Azeles scored in the 20th minute, but CUA's Nico Bartolomeo answered right back with a score two minutes later.

Higgins netted his first goal of the afternoon at the 31:55 mark to put the Eagles back in front 2-1, but the Cardinals came back once again, with Mike Brennan netting the equalizer off an assist from Hunter Horvath.

Midway through the second half, CUA took its first lead of the day when Flerri scored his first goal of the day to make it 3-2.

CUA finished with a 19-12 advantage in shots, with 13 of the Cardinals attempts going on goal.

Torsten Meuschke earned the win for CUA with three stops in goal, while Ezra Cassel sent back nine CUA shots for the Eagles.

CUA is back in action on Wednesday when the Cardinals open a three-game home stand beginning against conference foe Goucher.  Start time is set for 3:30 p.m.
