Romano named Landmark Conference Off. Player of the Week
WASHINGTON – After helping to lead CUA to a pair of shutouts last week, junior Kevin Romano was named the Landmark Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. Romano scored the game-winning goal against No. 19 Scranton and earlier in the week, he dished out the assist on the game-winner vs. Goucher.
Romano began his week by feeding Ben Fernandez for a goal in the 25th minute of CUA's 3-0 win over Goucher on Wednesday. Romano finished the day with one shot in addition to his assist.
On Saturday, Romano and his teammates handed Scranton its first conference loss of 2012 by a 1-0 score. The New Jersey native accounted for the only score, when he knocked in a penalty kick in the 49th minute. Romano finished with two shots in the match.
For the season, Romano has scored one goal and dished out three assists, while helping CUA to a share of first place in the conference with a 5-1 mark.
Romano and the Cardinals have two matches this week, beginning with a home contest with Salisbury on Wednesday. Start time is set for 3:30 p.m.
CUA then travels to New Jersey on Saturday to meet the Drew Rangers in another 3:30 start.
