Elizabethtown, Pa. - The Catholic University of America dropped its first Landmark Conference game, 1-0, to Elizabethtown College on Saturday afternoon.
Throughout the game, the Cardinals held a 12-7 edge in shots. Catholic graduate student Zachery Tashjy made three saves and the team was credited with a save in the 45th minute.
The Blue Jays struck in the 40th minute on a through ball that was touched into the lower left corner for a 1-0 lead.
Catholic continued to battle strong in the second half looking to equalize with seven shots including back-to-back headers from senior Heston Priestley in the 88th and 89th minutes. Priestley led the Cardinals’ offensive efforts with four shots. Fellow senior Patrick Mogan along with junior Brian Galfond and sophomore Mike Narzikul each added two shots.
The Cardinals remain on the road and head to Washington College on Tuesday, September 10 at 7 p.m.
