Tim McAnenys (Mount Laurel, N.J./Holy Cross) goal in the 67th minute knotted todays match at one but the Royals offense netted two more tallies and handed the Cardinals their first loss in conference play and only their second overall.

Men's Soccer Blanks Washington
Freshman midfielder Michael DiMarco's (Vorhees, N.J./St. Joseph's Prep) first half goal was all the CUA men's soccer team needed to elevate themselves to a 1-0 victory over Washington College Tuesday evening. After a strong week in CUA sports, the Cardinals brought home four individual awards. Four Cardinals were named Player of the Week for the Landmark Conference. Two members of the field hockey team, and a member each from mens and womens soccer.

Mens Soccer Brings Home 2-1 Victory in OT
It may have come in the 102nd minute, but Matt Brady (Woodbridge, Va./Potomac) kept his offensive firepower going with his 10th goal in only nine games, this time lifting the Cardinals to a 2-1 overtime win over Juniata.

The Catholic University of Americas men's soccer team defeated Shenandoah Thursday afternoon by a score of 2-1, improving their record to 4-1 on the year. Junior Matt Brady (Woodbridge, Va./Potomac) tallied his third goal and second assist of the season, while teammate Brian Pappas (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown) added his first goal on the year.

Late Goal Lifts Stockton over Catholic
POMONA, NJ A goal scored in the 84th minute of Friday evening's game gave Richard Stockton (2-0-1) the 2-1 victory over Catholic University (2-1). The game was the first round of the 2008 Stockton Seashore Classic. Stockton opened the scoring in the 21st minute of the first half. The lone goal would go unmatched until late in the second half when CUA's Michael DiMarco (Voorhees/ St. Joseph) scored off of a pass from Adrian Davis (Towson, MD/ Calvert Hall).

Duffy Named Player of the Week
The Landmark Conference has named men's soccer player Kevin Duffy (Marlton, N.J./Bishop Eustace)the Offensive Player of the Week. The CUA sophomore had a hand in two game-winning goals to help Catholic win the Randolph-Macon Tournament.

Defending Landmark Conference Mens Soccer Champions Drew University has been named the favorite to earn the 2008 title as selected in the Landmark Preseason Mens Soccer Poll. The head mens soccer coaches and sports information directors at each institution that sponsors the sport were polled for the preseason ballot.

CUA Releases Fall Landmark Schedules
The Catholic University of America Department of Athletics released a majority of the fall athletics schedules Monday. The 2008-09 school year marks CUAs second year in the Landmark Conference. Among the fall sports, all are looking for its first Landmark title.

OBrien and McGlynn Receive Top Athletic Honors
The Catholic University of America Department of Athletics held its annual Senior Banquet Thursday honoring all graduating athletes and giving out end of the year awards. Robbie OBrien (Columbia, Md./Long Reach) and Emily McGlynn (Tallahassee, Fla./Leon) were the male and female recipients of the departments top two honors. OBrien was awarded the R. Harris Cup and McGlynn received the Sr. Rosemary Donley Cup.

Landmark Announces Fall All-Academic Team
The Landmark Conference has announced that 32 student-athletes have been honored with selection to the 2007 Fall Landmark All-Academic Team. Two male and two female athletes from each of the eight Landmark institutions were selected for the team which honors athletes who have excelled athletically and academically. Nominees could compete in any of the Landmark fall sports and must be a sophomore or older with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.

The Catholic University mens soccer squad finished its season on Saturday with a 5-0 loss to the Susquehanna Crusaders (9-6-2). The Cardinals finish the season 6-10 and 2-5 in the Landmark Conference. In Head Coach Travis Beauchamps first season he guided the Cards to three more wins than last season showing a bright future for CUA.

The Catholic University mens soccer squad (6-9, 2-4 Landmark) fell to the Moravian College Greyhounds (6-10, 3-3 Landmark) Sunday afternoon at the DuFour Center Upper Fields by a score of 3-0. It took almost a 109 minutes, but the Catholic University mens soccer team scraped by The Drew Rangers (7-6, 3-1 Landmark) Saturday afternoon with the 1-0 double overtime victory. Sophomore forward Matt Brady (Woodbridge, Va./Potomac) connected on his final run of the afternoon to improve the Cardinals to 6-7 on the season and 2-2 in the Landmark Conference.

The Cards tied it up in the second half but a late Scranton goal dashed CUAs hopes falling 2-1. Catholic University is now 5-6 for the season and 1-2 in the Landmark Conference.

Brian Pappas (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown) notched a hat trick to lead the Catholic University men's soccer squad to a 9-0 victory over the Gallaudet Bison Thursday afternoon in Washington, D.C. Freshman Justin Brennan (Riverdale, N.J./Pascack Valley) added two goals for the Cardinals who had six different players score in the ninety minutes. With the win the Cardinals improve to 4-5 for the season while the Bison stay winless at 0-9.

Mariners Sink Cardinals in Landmark Opener
In its opening game of Landmark Conference play, the Catholic University mens soccer squad (3-5, 0-1 Landmark) fell 5-2 to the United States Merchant Marine Academy Mariners (4-4, 1-1 Landmark). The game was also significant for CUA head coach Travis Beauchamp as it was his first trip back to Kings Point after taking the job at CUA, Beachamp was an assistant coach with the Mariners for three years.

The Catholic University mens soccer team (3-4) fell to its old Capital Athletic Conference foe, the Marymount Saints (3-4) Wednesday evening at the DuFour Center. The Cards had chances but were unable to connect losing 2-0. The game marked the first CAC team the squad has played since joining the Landmark Conference this fall.

Season Opener Spoiled by FSU
First year head Catholic University mens soccer coach Travis Beauchamp had his debut spoiled Friday evening by the Frostburg State Bobcats Friday evening. The Cards lost 2-1 to the host school at the FSU Tournament. Despite the loss, there were a number of bright spots including the solid play of four freshman starters.

CUA Falls in CAC Quarterfinal
The Catholic University mens soccer squad lost 6-1 in the first round of the CAC tournament to the number two seed Mary Washington Eagles (13-4) Sunday afternoon. Playing a man down a majority of the game due to a red card, the Cardinals were unable to stop the Eagles potent offense. The game also marks the last of the fall for CUA who finishes the season 3-11-3.

Cardinal Teams Gear Up for CAC Tournament
This weekend marks the beginning of a pressure-filled time of year for the Catholic University fall athletic teams. Womens soccer, mens soccer, field hockey and volleyball will all begin the CAC Tournament, a single-elimination play-off that will not only determine the conference champion but will also crown the winner who will receive the CACs automatic bid into the NCAA tournament.

The Catholic University mens soccer team (3-10-3, 1-5-2 CAC) played for 110 minutes but after the final whistle no decision could be made in its game with the St. Marys Seahawks Wednesday in Maryland. The 1-1 final gave the Cards the #7 seed in the CAC conference tournament and a game on Sunday at #2 Mary Washington for first round play.

Despite a major discrepancy in number of shots, the CUA Cardinal mens soccer squad (3-8-2, 1-4-1 CAC) only lost 2-1 to the undefeated #3 York College Spartans (14-0-1, 6-0 CAC). The Cards were able to use a stingy defense to disrupt the Spartans never allowing York to get into a rhythm.

For 110 minutes the CUA mens soccer team (3-6-2, 1-3-1 CAC) fought against the Hood Blazers (5-6-1, 1-4-1) but in the end neither of the two very equal teams was able to get in a winning score. This was the first conference tie for both squads who are close in the CAC rankings.

Pioneers Abandon Game With Cardinals
CUA mens soccer (3-5-1, 1-2 CAC) handily beat the Columbia Union Pioneers (2-7-1) Sunday afternoon at DuFour Field. After two major injuries and three goalkeepers, the Pioneers walked off of the field at 77:30 in protest to a foul resulting in a penalty shot for the Cardinals. The game was considered official because the abandonment took place after the 75th minute.

Catholic University mens soccer (1-2-1, 0-1 CAC) took a step in the right direction Tuesday afternoon with a 4-0 win over the Shenandoah Hornets (0-5-0, 0-0 ODAC). The incredibly physical game featured six penalties including two red card ejections but at the final whistle, the Cardinals came out with their first win of the season.

Despite playing the Sea Gulls even in the second half, Salisburys explosive opening stanza put the Cardinals in a deep hole.

Cardinals Tie Drew in Double Overtime
The 2006 season finally started for Catholic University Mens Soccer (0-0-1) Sunday afternoon with a 2-2 double overtime tie with the Drew University Rangers (0-0-1). The game was postponed on Saturday due to heavy rainfall in the area.
