Wesley scores four goals in the last thirty minutes
DOVER, Del. - Catholic University men's soccer (3-7-1) played the Wesley College Wolverines even for seventy minutes, unfortunately for the Cards a late surge by Wesley resulted in a 4-0 decision Sunday afternoon. The Cardinals had opportunities to score, but couldn't find the back of the net with just four shots on goal for the game.
The score remained at 0-0 until 69:55 when the Wolverines' Dom Citino scored the first goal receiving the ball from Sean Wise. Just two minutes later, Wesley was awarded a corner kick which resulted in a header goal by Robbie Polk to go up 2-0.
Already down two goals, CUA was unable to stop a Wolverine offense that was gaining momentum quickly. It only got worse for the Cards as Joey Spino knocked in a score at 79:37 and a Wolverine pounced on a rebound at 87:23 and hit it home. When the final whistle blew the score was 4-0 in favor of Wesley.
Cardinal goalkeeper Bill Frame (Hockessin, Del./Salesianum) had six saves and Edward Hunt notched four for the Wolverines. WC took five corners to CUA's three and had 17 shots while the Cards took 11.
The Cardinals will have a few days to rest after back to back games this weekend. The team will play at York next Saturday. The game is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.
