ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - The Catholic University men's soccer team (3-10-3, 1-5-2 CAC) played for 110 minutes but after the final whistle no decision could be made in its game with the St. Mary's Seahawks Wednesday in Maryland.  The 1-1 final gave the Cards the #7 seed in the CAC conference tournament and a game on Sunday at #2 Mary Washington for first round play.

After a scoreless first half, both teams were able to produce goals in the second.  At 65:19, Trevor Zarker scored on a corner kick from Chad Henry and Mikael Tigrett.  CUA came back and evened it up at 79:31 when Tim McAneny (Mount Laurel, N.J./Holy Cross) hit an unassisted shot to send the game into OT that would result in the 1-1 tie.

In overtime, St. Mary's held the advantage in the stats taking five shots while the Cards only attempted three.  After both overtimes the Seahawks ended with 21 shots to 17 for the Cardinals and 7 corners to CUA's two.  Keeper Joe Schettino (Easton, Conn./Joel Barlow) had a big game with 10 saves for the afternoon while the two SMC goalies combined for three.

The Cards will travel to play Mary Washington in the opening round of the CAC tournament on Sunday.
