11/9/2006

WASHINGTON - The Catholic University of America men's soccer freshman Matt Brady (Woodbridge, Va./Potomac) has been named the Capital Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year.  The forward also received second team All-CAC honors to cap off his phenomenal inaugural campaign.

Brady made an immediate impact for the Cards starting in all 17 games this past season.  He led the squad in goals (13), assists (3-t) and points (29).  Brady was also a perfect 4-4 on penalty kicks and had multiple-goal games four times.  He began the season on a seven-game scoring streak resulting in 10 tallies.

In the conference, Brady was ranked second in goals and goals per game with 0.76.  His 29 points placed him fourth among the leagues' best.  This marks the first time CUA has won any of the top awards in the CAC for men's soccer.
