Beauchamp Hired as Catholic University Men's Soccer Coach
Comes to CUA from the United States Merchant Marine Academy

WASHINGTON - The Catholic University of America announced Monday that Travis Beauchamp as been hired as the new head men's soccer coach.  He replaces Billy Thiebaut who stepped down after three years at the helm.

"We are delighted that Travis has accepted our offer to become the next head soccer coach at CUA, especially as we enter into our first year of play in the Landmark Conference next fall," said athletic director Michael Allen, Ph.D.  "He will bring a tremendous amount of energy and coaching knowledge to our soccer program."

Beauchamp comes to CUA from the United States Merchant Marine Academy where he has been an assistant coach for the past three seasons.  The Mariners posted winnings seasons during his time on campus with a combined record of 46-11-4 and the coaching staff was honored with a Skyline Conference Coaching Staff of the Year award.  Beauchamp's main duties included training, recruiting, scouting and video editing.  He also served as the goalkeeper's coach and under his leadership had his players earn three All-Metro Region Goalkeeper awards.  USMMA will join CUA as charter members of the newly formed Landmark Conference and will begin play in 2007.

Beauchamp played soccer and baseball at Washington College earning all-conference and all-region honors.  He received a bachelors and master's in history from Washington and served as an assistant soccer coach for the Shoremen during graduate school.    

"I am very excited to join the community at Catholic University. There is an opportunity for success in our soccer program and I believe that we can accomplish great things," said Beauchamp.  "I am also excited to be a part of the athletic department as a whole. The progress over the last couple of years has made it obvious to me that we are heading in the right direction."

Beauchamp will officially begin his position on Monday, March 19th.
