9/30/2008

WASHINGTON-  With 59.8 seconds left of the game, CUA's Matt Brady (Woodbridge, Va./ Potomac) put back a rebound from Brian White's (Wexford, Pa./ North Allegheny) shot to give CUA the 3-2 advantage over St. Mary's.  The squad has won its last 5 games, and has compiled an impressive 7-1 record so far this season.

The Cardinals (7-1) grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 28th minute, as junior midfielder Brian Pappas (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./ Yorktown) received a pass from teammate Tim Brady (Howell, N.J./ Christian Brothers) and fired a shot into the upper left corner.

A total of eight cards were issued on both sides of the field in the emotionally-charged second half. CUA furthered their lead in the 58th minute as M. Brady chipped in a rebound that came off of a St. Mary's defender.

The Seahawks then came back and scored two late back-to-back goals, bringing the game to a 2-2 tie. Despite playing a man down, M. Brady netted the dramatic game-winning goal in the 90th minute to give CUA the advantage over St. Mary's.

In goal for the Cards was Quin Daly, who tallied five saves on the night. CUA also recorded 16 shots in the contest.

The squad returns to the field on Saturday, October 4th for a 3:30 p.m., game at Juniata.
