Men's Soccer Blasts Goucher, 5-1
October 21, 2008
WASHINGTON-- Matt Brady (Woodbridge, Va./Potomac) led a dangerous Cardinal attack against Goucher today, as CUA took home a 5-1 win. Brady's goal, and pair of assists helped seal the game in the second half.
Outshooting their opponents, the Cardinals marked an even six shots per period and found the net twice in the first half and three times in the second half. Michael DiMarco (Vorhees, N.J./St. Joseph's Prep) led the team with four shots, three of them on goal, including the final goal of the game, a header from the leading point getter, Brady.
Brian Pappas (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown) opened the scoring after a great defensive team save for the Gophers. The ball came off the visiting defender's foot, to Pappas at the top of the box. Pappas made no mistake and drove a shot that found its way just under the crossbar.
Goucher's only goal of the game came in the 16th minute as Tim McMullen tossed a corner-kick length throw-in across the top of the goal mouth to the head of Evan Rosse.
Brian Maher (Westfield, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) marked the game winner in the 28th minute when Adrian Davis (Towson, Md./Calvert Hall) crossed it and Maher drove the ball to the top left corner.
CUA will return to action Saturday, October 25th as the Cardinals will travel to Moravian for this year's final Landmark Conference road game. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
