Men's Soccer Delivers Hampden-Sydney First Loss
WASHINGTON- The CUA men's soccer handed Hampden-Sydney its first loss of the season with a 2-1 win on the road. Kevin Duffy (Marlton, N.J./Bishop Eustace) took four shots and found the back of the net once as The Catholic University of America handed Hampden-Sydney its first loss of the season with a 2-1 win on the road.
Duffy's goal in the fourth minute of the game put the Cardinals up early. Brian Maher (Westfield, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) scored in the 37th minute to give Catholic University a 2-0 lead but that lead would be cut with a Penalty Kick in the 38th minute by Hampden-Sydney's Matt Swaney.
Catholic University was outshot in the game 12-10, but missed the net only one time and forced the host keeper to make six saves.
The Catholic University of America returns to action Wednesday, as the Cardinals play host to the Merchant Marine Academy. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
