Men's Soccer Picked Second by Coaches and SIDs
WASHINGTON-- Men's soccer, who finished the 2008 season with a 14-7 record and an appearance in the Landmark Conference Championship match, was picked to finish second by the Landmark Conference soccer coaches and Sports Information Directors.
The team finished the 2008 season with a late run into the playoffs putting up a 1-0 win over Drew on the road in the conference semifinal before falling to conference champion Susquehanna, 0-1. The team earned a spot in the ECAC playoffs where it put up wins over Wesley, 3-1, in the quarterfinals and Frostburg State, 3-2 in double overtime, in the semifinal.
Returning to the 2009 squad will be Matt Brady (Woodbridge, Va./Potomac), who finished the 2008 season with a team leading 14 goals, seven assists, and seven game winners, as well as several other key components that look to continue the success of 2008. The team returns nine starters including, GK Quinn Daly (San Diego, Calif./St. Augustine) who ended the season with 64 saves and a 1.39 GAA.
CUA will open the season with two exhibition games in late August before the regular season begins on September 1st against Marymount (Va.) at 4 p.m. at the CUA Soccer Field.
