Men's Soccer Splits At Swarthmore Tournament
SWARTHMORE, Pa.-- Matt Brady's three goals led CUA men's soccer to a 1-1 split during this weekend's tournament at Swarthmore College. The team opened the tournament with a 2-0 win over Widener but fell today to Swarthmore 1-0.
On Saturday, Brady scored two goals on nine shots, as CUA took a 2-0 win over Widener College. Quinn Daly needed to make only one save as Widener took eight shots in the match.
Brady kept the pressure on with seven shots in the match on Sunday, but Swarthmore's keeper made four saves with Brady missing the target twice. Brady's goal in the 47th minute was the first of the game, but Swarthmore scored four unanswered goals starting with the equalizer in the 56th minute.
CUA finished the weekend outshooting its opponents 34-25 and were fouled 32 times in the pair of games.
The Cardinals will return to action Wednesday, Sept. 9 on the road at Shenandoah. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
