WASHINGTON—Brian Maher put CUA up early on his only
shot of the contest as the Cardinals (10-2, 2-1 LC) dropped Juniata
(5-7, 1-3 LC) Saturday, 3-0.
Quinn Daly had four saves and combined with Thomas O’Leary to
a shutout Juniata. The Eagles took 10 shots in the contest, but
only put five on target. The Cardinals outshot Juniata 18-10.
Brian Pappas found Maher on the left side in the 22nd minute. Maher
then drove the ball past a diving keeper just inside the right post
to give CUA an early 1-0 lead.
Less than two minutes later Tim Brady hit Mike Brennan with a pass
from midfield with which he drove the ball just under the
crossbar.
Michael DiMarco chipped the ball over the goalie’s head in
the 76th minute for the Cardinals third and final goal of the
game.
The Cardinals return to action Oct. 14 at 3 p.m. against McDaniel
at the CUA Soccer Fields.
