Men's Soccer Finds the Answer at Washington College,
CHESTERTOWN, Md.-- With 25 shots from 13 different players, CUA (9-2), now ranked #7 in the latest Mid-Atlantic Regional poll, defeated Washington College (2-9), 4-0, Tuesday evening on the road.
Four different Cardinals scored tonight as the offensive pressure seemed endless. CUA outshot its opponents 25-11 including a 12-3 margin in the first half.
Washington College took eleven shots in the contest but Thomas O'Leary and Tom Berlenbach combined for the shutout.
Tim McAneny opened the scoring for the Cardinals in the 24th minute with a high blast from beyond the box. Kevin Duffy followed with a goal of his own in the 34th minute when he took possession of a loose ball and found the back of the net. CUA went into the break with a 2-0 lead.
In the second half it was more of the same as the Cardinals took 13 more shots and found the net twice. Mike Brennan found Brian Maher on a crossing pass in the 72nd minute and then was followed by Nic Santarlasci following Brian Pappas' shot with a put-back on the rebound.
CUA will return to action on Oct. 10 as the Cardinals will welcome Juniata College to Washington D.C. The match is set to begin at 3:00 p.m.
