Men's Soccer Ends the Regular Season with Authority, 5-1 over Moravian

Dominating nearly every aspect of the game, the CUA men's soccer team (14-3-1, 5-1-1 LC) dropped Moravian College (4-11-2, 2-5 LC) 5-1 on Sunday.

Brian Pappas led the CUA attack with two goals on four shots, while Quinn Daly and Thomas O'Leary combined efforts in net for the 5-1 win.

Alexander Kulp had the Greyhounds only goal of the contest in the 81st minute as he hit the back of the net during a scramble in front.

The teams split the first half with no scoring, but the Cardinals came out of the break with a purpose.  In the second half CUA took 10 shots finding the back of the net on five of them.  Adrian Davis netted the game's first goal as Matt Hofrichter sent in a cross from the left side in the 54th minute.  Brady found Michael DiMarco who finished high left in the 64th minute.  Less than 70 seconds later Brady found Pappas in traffic to add another CUA tally in the 65th minute.

Keeping the momentum going, Nick Sylvester found Pappas outside the box in the 66th minute.  Pappas drove the ball just under the high left corner to notch his second of the game from over 25 yards away.

Kulp then scored for the visitors in the 81st minute, but Hal Cogan headed the ball over a diving goalie from 15 yards out to put the Cardinals back up by four.  Brian Maher earned the assist on the tally.

With the win, CUA finishes the regular season in third place in the Landmark Conference.  The Cardinals will travel to Merchant Marine on Wednesday for the semifinal round of the 2009 Landmark Conference tournament.  Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
