Men's Soccer Slips Past Mary Washington


WASHINGTON- A pair of goals by CUA's Kevin Duffy propelled the men's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over The University of Mary Washington on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Cardinals improve to 6-1 on the season.

The junior midfielder scored his first of two goals for the Red and Black less than five minutes into the match. Teammate Michael DiMarco hit Duffy on a cross at the 4:47 mark, giving the Cards a 1-0 advantage.

Duffy helped further the lead for CUA with a second goal, converting a feed from Hal Cogan toward the end of the first half. The Cardinals applied tenacious defenfisve pressure to hold their opponent scoreless until the 87-minute mark. UMW's John Tarley recorded an unassisted goal to put the Eagles within one, but the damage had been done. CUA held on to its 2-1 lead as the final seconds ticked away.

The Cardinals will travel to Susquehanna University next Saturday, September 26th for a 3:30 p.m., conference match.
