Men's Soccer to Host World Cup Event

June 6, 2010

WASHINGTON- On June 18, the Catholic University men’s soccer team will host a World Cup viewing party at McGinty’s Public House in Silver Spring, Md.

The squad has teamed up with McGinty’s for a morning of World Cup Soccer. Doors will open at 9:30 a.m., as the U.S. team is scheduled to take on Slovenia at 10 a.m.

A portion of the proceeds will go to the fundraising efforts of the CUA men’s soccer team. There will also be an auction during halftime to help the squad raise money for its August 2010 trip to Europe.

“With all of the excitement in the U.S. surrounding this year’s tournament we thought this was a great idea,” says head coach Travis Beauchamp. “This is an opportunity for anyone and everyone to come out and support Catholic University Soccer while enjoying the World Cup. McGinty’s has done a great job in helping put this event together and we are really excited.”
