Brennan honored by Landmark Conference
WASHINGTON – After helping lead the CUA men's soccer team to a pair of shutouts, including one that earned the Cardinals a postseason berth, sophomore Mike Brennan was named the Landmark Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.
On Tuesday, Brennan earned ECAC Division III South Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Brennan scored the game-winning goal for the Cardinals in their 1-0 win over St. Mary's on October 26. He took just one shot in the match, but it found the back of the net in the 51st minute to lift CUA to the road win.
On Saturday, October 30, Brennan and the Cardinals posted an impressive 1-0 shutout on the road at Moravian. That win extended CUA's unbeaten streak to nine matches and lifted the defending conference champions into this year's conference tournament.
Brennan and the Cardinals held the Greyhounds to just two shots in the win on Saturday, including one in each half. The win was CUA's seventh shutout in 2010.
CUA will return to the pitch on Wednesday evening when the Cardinals travel to Pennsylvania to take on top-seeded Susquehanna in the semifinals of the 2010 Landmark Conference Tournament. Match time is scheduled for 7:00 and all of the action will be shown live here.
