Pair of Cardinals earn Player of the Week accolades

WASHINGTON – Senior Quinn Daly and junior Mike DiMarco were named the Landmark Conference Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, respectively, on Monday.  That pair helped lead the Cardinals to their second straight conference championship over the weekend.

CUA began the week with a 1-0 shutout victory over top-seeded Susquehanna on November 3.  DiMarco netted the game-winner for the Cardinals in the 61st minute and took three shots overall.

Daly stopped five shots in goal for the Cardinals as he earned the shutout win to help lift CUA into the championship match.

On November 6 CUA went to third-seeded Merchant Marine Academy and defeated the Mariners in a shootout to capture its second consecutive conference title.

Daly made seven saves in the match during regulation and overtime, but was even more impressive during the shootout, where he held the Mariners without a score in three attempts.  The Cardinals made all three of their tries to win the title in dramatic fashion.

DiMarco totaled three shots in the championship match, including one on goal.

Unbeaten in its last 11 matches, CUA will learn its postseason fate on Monday afternoon during the NCAA Tournament selection show, which will take place beginning at 2:00.
