Smith garners Landmark Conference Player of the Week honors
WASHINGTON – Freshman Ian Smith has been named the
Landmark Conference Offensive Player of the Week, it was announced
on Monday. Smith scored the game-winning goal for CUA in its
win over Goucher last week.
Smith totaled three shots, all on goal, and the scored the
game-winner in the Cardinals 4-1 win over Goucher on October
20. The first-year forward then registered three shots,
including one on goal, in CUA's hard-fought 1-1 double
overtime draw at Drew on October 23.
Following last week's action, CUA's unbeaten streak
sits at six matches. The Cardinals sit at 8-5-3 overall and
2-1-3 in the Landmark Conference.
For the season, Smith is CUA's leading scorer with eight
goals and 16 points, including two game-winning goals. He
also leads the Cardinals with 33 shots and 16 shots on goal.
Smith and the rest of the Cardinals have two regular season
matches remaining, beginning on Tuesday at St. Mary's.
