In five seasons at CUA, Travis Beauchamp has led the Cardinals
to 61 victories, two NCAA Tournament berths, a pair of Landmark
Conference championships and four straight appearances in the
Landmark Conference Tournament final. 2012 will mark
Beauchamp’s sixth season at the helm of the CUA program.
Last season, Beauchamp and the Cardinals won 14 matches, which
included a 6-0-1 mark within the Landmark Conference. CUA
rose to No. 3 in the Mid-Atlantic Regional rankings, and was also
nationally ranked by the NSCAA and D3soccer.com.
The 2011 Cardinals went 11 straight matches without a defeat,
capturing the top seed in the Landmark Conference Tournament along
the way. CUA downed Susquehanna in the tournament semifinals
to earn a spot in the championship match for the fourth consecutive
season.
Six Cardinals received All-Conference recognition, led by Mike
Brennan who was named the Offensive Player of the Year, and
Beauchamp and his staff were honored with the Coaching Staff of the
Year award, marking the second time they have accomplished this
feat (2008).
In the classroom, Mike DiMarco, Justin Oloriz and Ian Smith were
named to the Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll, with DiMarco
also earning Academic All-District accolades. In addition,
Oloriz was named to the Landmark Conference Fall All-Academic
Team.
The 2010 season saw Beauchamp and the Cardinals capture their
second straight Landmark Conference championship by advancing on
penalty kicks against Merchant Marine Academy. With that win
CUA became the first school in conference history to win
back-to-back titles. The Cardinals also earned their second
straight bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Individually, four CUA student-athletes received All-Landmark
Conference recognition, led by Ian Smith who was named the Rookie
of the Year. Mike DiMarco, Tim Brady and Nick Sylvester
joined Smith on the All-Conference teams. Five times
throughout the season a CUA player was honored by the conference
with a weekly award, tied for the most of any school in the
league.
Off the field, seven of Beauchamp’s student-athletes
received Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll accolades,
including Tim Brady, Quinn Daly, Mike DiMarco, Matt Hofrichter, Tom
O’Leary, Nick Sylvester and Pete Wawrzusin. In
addition, Hofrichter and Wawrzusin were named to the
conference’s fall All-Academic Team, which honors athletes
who have excelled athletically and academically.
In 2009 Beauchamp led the Cardinals to new heights, as they
established a school record with 16 victories, and also captured
their first-ever Landmark Conference championship with a 3-0
victory over Scranton. With that win, CUA also qualified for
the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school annals.
From an individual standpoint, five of Beauchamp’s
student-athletes received All-Landmark Conference honors, including
Matt Brady, who went onto earn First-Team All-American and
All-Region recognition, while Quinn Daly and Tim McAneny were named
ECAC South Region All-Stars.
Since arriving at CUA, Beauchamp has worked tirelessly to build
a winning program. After going 6-10 in his first season with a
young squad, the Cardinals were 14-7 during the 2008 campaign. At
the time, the 14 wins were a school record for the Cardinals, as
they advanced to their first Landmark Conference championship game,
then followed that with a run to the ECAC South Region championship
game - the program's first postseason berth in over two decades.
For their efforts in 2008, Beauchamp and his assistant coaches were
named the Landmark Conference Men's Soccer Coaching Staff of the
Year.
Beauchamp was hired in March of 2007; he also works as an
operations assistant at CUA in the athletic department doing
game-day setup and various projects around the DuFour Center.
Prior to arriving in the nation’s capital, Beauchamp worked as an assistant coach at USMMA for three seasons. The Mariners posted winning seasons during his time on campus with a combined record of 46-11-4 and the coaching staff was honored with a Skyline Conference Coaching Staff of the Year award. Beauchamp's main duties included training, recruiting, scouting and video editing. He also served as the goalkeeper's coach and under his leadership had his players earn three All-Metro Region Goalkeeper awards.
The Warsaw, Va., native played soccer and baseball at Washington College earning all-conference and all-region honors. Beauchamp's class at Washington moved into the record books posting the most wins in school history over a four-year career. He received bachelor's and master's degrees in history from Washington and served as an assistant soccer coach for the Shoremen during graduate school.
Beauchamp resides in Washington, D.C., with his wife, Dimitry
and their son Wilton, born in 2010.
