David Sanford is in his second year as an assistant coach for
the CUA men’s soccer program. Sanford was a four-year
member of the soccer program at James Madison University and most
recently worked as a site director of camps for D.C. United of
Major League Soccer.
Sanford played four years of soccer at James Madison and was the
2010 recipient of the Justin Armitage Coaches Award. Sanford
graduated from JMU with his bachelor’s degree in sport
management.
Prior to college Sanford attended Chancellor High School in
Fredericksburg, Virginia, where he helped lead the Chargers to the
2003 state championship. Sanford was named a First Team
All-Metro selection by the Washington Post and was a
member of the D.C. United U-20 national finalist team.
In addition to his playing experience, Sanford has coached at
Turner Ashby High School and assisted with numerous club teams and
camps. He is also active in community service, having spent
time with the Big Brother Big Sister Program and the Special
Olympics.
