Cardinals sweep Goucher 9-0 for 12th win of season
WASHINGTON – The Cardinals bounced back from their first conference loss of the season with a 9-0 sweep of Goucher on Wednesday. Cassian Utrie, Jean Paul Roman, Brian Bradley, Joe Peters, Jason Quisberth and Kyle Kramer swept the singles points for the Cardinals, who improve to 12-2 overall with the victory.
Utrie got CUA started with a 6-2, 6-3 win over David Spivey at first singles and Roman followed with a 6-1, 6-2 win vs. Nick Pelensky at the second flight.
Bradley earned a 6-2, 6-0 win over Pat Murnin at the third flight and Peters downed Seth Manfield 6-2, 6-1 at the fourth flight.
Quisberth defeated Brett Blackman 6-1, 6-0 at fifth singles and Kramer closed singles play out with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Thomas Adair at the sixth flight.
In doubles play, Utrie and Roman picked up an 8-2 win over Spivey and Pelensky at the first flight, while Peters and Kramer downed Murnin and Blackman 8-1 at the second flight.
Bradley and Quisberth then picked up an 8-1 win over Manfield and Adair at the third flight.
CUA heads to New Jersey for its next match, where the Cardinals will face Drew on April 14. Start time is set for 1 p.m.
