CUA begins spring break trip with shutout win over Leb. Valley
HILTON HEAD, S.C. – CUA improved to 5-0 this year with a 9-0 sweep of Lebanon Valley on Monday afternoon on day one of the Cardinals spring break trip. Cassian Utrie, Jean Paul Roman, Brian Bradley, Jason Quisberth, Joe Peters and Kyle Kramer all won singles matches for the Cardinals.
Utrie got things started for the Cardinals with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Ethan Grodzinski at first singles, and Roman followed with a 6-0, 1-6, 11-9 victory vs. Roger Van Scyoc at the second flight.
Bradley kept things rolling at the third flight with a 6-3, 6-1 win, and Quisberth picked up a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Andrew Wilson at fourth singles.
Peters won his singles match 6-0, 6-1 over Joel Ramos, and Kramer closed things out with a 7-5, 6-3 victory against Samuel Calabria at the sixth flight.
CUA had little trouble in the doubles matches, with Utrie and Roman picking up an 8-1 win at the first flight, and Peters and Kramer earning an 8-5 decision at second doubles.
Bradley and Quisberth then closed things out with an 8-1 win at the third flight over Wilson and Kyle Kahl.
On Tuesday, CUA faces Westminster (Pa.) beginning at 11:30 a.m.
