Cardinals fall to Division I Loyola (Md.) on the road
LOYOLA, Md. – CUA fell to Division I foe Loyola (Md.) by a 9-0 score on Sunday afternoon. The Cardinals were looking for their second straight win after downing St. Mary's 5-4 at home earlier this week.
Loyola's Connor Pietrak won the first singles point with a hard-fought 6-2, 7-5 win over Brian Bradley. Bradley gave Pietrak all he could handle and nearly extended the match to a third set.
At second singles, CUA's Kyle Kramer fell to Bobby Gorczakowski 6-2, 6-0.
At third singles, Harrison Kunkel of Loyola earned a 6-2, 6-2 win over Jason Quisberth and at fourth singles, CUA's Schuyler Hayward was upended by Jordan Kuchta 6-1, 6-1.
Greg Olesnycky of Loyola defeated Joe Peters 6-0, 6-0 at fifth singles and Marc Rodriguez of CUA fell to Alex Castro 6-1, 6-1 at the sixth flight.
In doubles competition, Pietrak and Gorczakowski defeated Bradley and Quisberth 8-3 at the first flight, while Kramer and Peters fell to Kuchta and Olesnycky 8-1 at second doubles.
Hayward and Joe Trinity took on Kunkel and Keishi Goto at third doubles and it was the Greyhounds coming away with an 8-3 win.
CUA returns to action on Thursday afternoon when the Cardinals travel to face Stevenson. Start time is set for 2 p.m.
