Cardinals begin spring season this week in S.C.

WASHINGTON – Following a strong fall season and with nearly its entire team returning from 2012, CUA is anxious to gets its spring segment going this week. The Cardinals will head to Hilton Head, S.C., where they will take part in five matches on their annual spring break trip.

CUA picked up three wins during the fall season, downing St. Mary's, Stevenson and Hood. The Cards also took on Division I foe Loyola (Md.).

Individually, Brian Bradley, Schuyler Hayward, and Jason Quisberth won four matches, with Bradley winning three at the first singles flight.

In doubles competition, Bradley and Quisberth, Kyle Kramer and Joe Peters, and Hayward and Joe Trinity all won two matches.

CUA won 18 matches overall in singles play and nine in doubles.

The Cardinals posted a 13-4 mark last season, including 5-2 within the Landmark Conference. CUA earned its third consecutive bid to the conference tournament, before falling in the semifinals.

Four CUA players were then named to the All-Conference Teams, including Bradley, Cassian Utrie and Quisberth.

CUA gets its spring season underway on Sunday evening when the Cardinals take on Alvernia at 6:30 p.m.
