Cardinals drop 5-4 decision at York
YORK, Pa. – CUA dropped a tough 5-4 decision at York on Saturday. The Cardinals received singles wins from Brian Bradley, Jason Quisberth and Schuyler Hayward, while Bradley and Quisberth added a doubles point for CUA.
Bradley started things off for the Cardinals with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Tyler Cheatham at first singles. It was Bradley's first time playing at the first flight.
York's Eric Cooperman came away with a 6-1, 6-2 win over CUA's Kyle Kramer at second singles and Nathaniel Hoskins gave the Spartans a 6-4, 6-2 win at the third flight over Joe Peters, who played an aggressive match.
Quisberth pulled the Cardinals even with his 6-4, 6-2 win over Matt Rosenkrantz at the fourth flight and Hayward followed with a 6-4, 6-4 victory against Jake Greenstein.
York's Daniel Erk closed out singles play with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Joe Trinty.
In doubles action, Bradley and Quisberth teamed up for an 8-6 win over Cheatham and Hoskins at the first flight, which was a high-intensity, back-and-forth match.
Rosenkrantz and Greenstein gave York an 8-6 win at the second doubles fight and Eric Cooperman and Erk finished things off with a 9-7 win against CUA's Hayward and Trinity.
The Cardinals return to the court on Sunday, September 23 when they travel to face Division I foe Loyola (Md.). Start time is set for 1:30 p.m.
