Peters earns Player of the Week honors from Landmark Conference
WASHINGTON – Joe Peters has been named the Landmark Conference Player of the Week, it was announced on Monday. Peters went a perfect 8-0 for CUA last week while the Cardinals were in South Carolina for spring break. This marks the second straight week in which someone from CUA earned the weekly award, after Brian Bradley claimed it last week.
Peters began his week with two wins in CUA's match vs. Malone on March 4. He earned a 6-3, 7-6 victory at 5th singles and then teamed up with Kyle Kramer to pick up a win at 2nd doubles.
One day later, Peters won the 4th singles point by a score of 6-2, 6-1, and then picked up a victory in doubles competition at the 3rd flight.
On March 6, Peters helped CUA earn a 6-3 victory over Eastern Nazarene, with a 6-4, 6-1 win at 4th singles and a 9-7 victory at 3rd doubles.
Peters then closed his week out with a hard-fought 7-6, 4-6, 10-7 win at 4th singles to help CUA down Westminster College 8-1 on March 7. In doubles play, Peters teamed up with Kramer to earn an 8-6 victory at the 2nd flight.
A native of Pennsylvania, Peters is currently 7-3 in singles play this season and 8-2 in doubles action.
Peters and CUA return to the courts on Saturday, March 16 when the Cardinals travel to New York to face Merchant Marine Academy in the Landmark Conference opener. Start time is set for noon.
