NCAA Men’s Tennis Bracket Released, Catholic Draws Washington & Lee

WASHINGTON – The NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Committee has announced the 44 teams that will compete in the 2014 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championships and the Catholic University of America men's tennis team (11-6) will play Washington and Lee (17-4) during the first round on May 8-9.

The Cardinals join the other 32 automatic qualifiers who won their conference championship for an automatic bid.  CUA enters the NCAA event on an eight-game win streak and the program's first Landmark Conference Title with a 5-3 win over Juniata on Sunday, April 27th.

The Generals of Washington & Lee became an automatic qualifier when they defeated Virginia Wesleyan 5-0 for the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Title on Sunday, April 27th.

In the No. 1 singles slot is Juan Lorido with a record of 15-2.  Lorido's 7-6 (7-5), 6-0 win over his Juniata foe was the match that led to the Cardinals' championship title, he was then named the tournament's Most Valuable Player for his success.

Lorido and Cassian Utrie are the Cardinals' doubles team standout with an unblemished 8-0 mark as the No. 1 doubles team.
